In light of the pandemic, the GoE has put a comprehensive national response strategy consistent with the global guidelines issued by WHO. WFP collaborated with the GoE to establish The Egyptian COVID-19 Response Hub, a GIS-based platform that consolidates data from the different government entities.
The platform expands under the WFP partnership with NEPAD as a pilot to be replicated in other countries under south-south cooperation.
Egypt
In January 2021, the GoE signed an official agreement with the international health foundation, GAVI, to acquire 20 million vaccines for its population. The Ministry of Health has further indicated the possible commencement of clinical tests of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.
