WFP complements the GoE in delivering an integrated package for schoolchildren by using schools as an exceptionally cost-effective platform for food delivery. In 2021, the temporary closure of community schools and other operational bottlenecks due to the COVID 19 put the national school-feeding programme on hold. Despite the hurdles faced, WFP’s school feeding programme complemented the national programme by targeting schools in the poorest governorates through the provision of unconditional cash assistance.
