Human capital development is one of the most fundamental elements of sustainable and inclusive economic growth. It encompasses the provision of basic human needs such as education, health and nutrition. As one of the early adopters of the World Bank's Human Capital Project, Egypt has long been committed to addressing the gap in human capital outcomes.
Nutrition
Proper nutrition is an important factor for good health and disease prevention, especially for vulnerable groups such as children and pregnant and lactating women (PLWs). Acute malnutrition in children can have severe life-long consequences for the individuals and the countries.
Egypt

For nations to achieve nutrition security, all people must have access to a variety of nutritious foods and potable drinking water; knowledge, resources, and skills for healthy living; prevention, treatment, and care for diseases affecting nutrition status; and safety-net systems during crisis situations, such as natural disasters or deleterious social and political systems.

Community Hub
A Community Hub is a community school that has been transformed into a centre for knowledge and learning, empowering teachers and communities with tools to access information to improve their lives and their children's, ultimately contributing to more excellent social stability and resilience. The community hub model strengthens the GOE's commitment to achieving Egypt's development outcomes by ensuring that children attending WFP supported schools have access to quality education in conjunction with supporting their families' livelihoods.
Egypt

Community hubs uses technology in an innovative way to ensure that vulnerable communities bridge the digital divide by equipping community schools with the needed infrastructure and tools to become knowledge hubs. On a broader level however, the community hub innovation offers strategic support to the Government of Egypt by facilitating the utilization and geographic reach of the knowledge bank initiative, launched by the presidency’s office in November 2015.

Education
Education is a necessity when it comes to human capital development; however, the COVID 19 pandemic showed that access to education is even more pivotal. Education is also multidimensional and continuous, meaning that, not only schoolchildren but adults too need continuous education either in the traditional sense or vocational. Education is also progressive as we introduce new innovative ways to teach.
Egypt

The GoE embarked on an ambitious education reform plan, which saw several initiatives in place over the past years, aimed at increasing the uptake of digital solutions and technology in classrooms.

Health
Chronic malnutrition, maternal and child mortality are two of the main public health concerns in Egypt. Egypt’s 2014 Demographic and Health Survey recorded, 21.4 percent stunting, 16 percent overweight, and 5.5 percent of children under 5 being underweight. Another major challenge is overpopulation and its impact on a range of health issues.
Egypt

Given the dramatic effects of COVID on the Egyptian healthcare system, the Egyptian Government, development partners and donors were compelled to act swiftly.
